"Haha, yeah..." Estelle mumbled incoherently, still feeling a tinge of bashfulness after handing him the crackers. Brushing charcoal hair from her eyes, she took the grapes and water with both appreciation and a bit of embarrassment. That smirk. She ate the grapes will more precaution, slipping them into her mouth one-by-one, with the occasion sip of water to wash it down. This was awkward, yes, but she supposed it was better than glares coming from a room full of people. She felt sort of at ease with Shawn, an odd feeling. She sat there in silence, watching the clock, sometimes glancing at the firepit, sometimes her accomplice. A strange moment.

Shawn decided he quite liked this new girl. He wondered if perhaps she would be interested in helping him with chores in the morning. Not that either of them wanted to do chores, but it would be an opportunity for her to stay longer. That is if she wanted to stay longer and wasn't already completely sketched out. "What would you think about helping me out tomorrow morning? We need more fire wood... You don't have to carry any, but it would be nice to have some company." Shawn asked, eyes flicking to Estelle. He tried not too look too hopeful.

Estelle was a bit surprised by Shawn's sudden question - a bit pleased, even. "Sure, I guess," she replied, staring straight at the floor rather at the man himself. Though the redness in her cheeks faded away, she was still flushed on the inside. She would admit, he was surprisingly nice, friendly, and somehow she had gone through this whole night without one snide comment, insult, anything. Maybe he just had some kind of natural charm, some sort of charisma that sucked her in. Yes, she did like him. But what did he think of her, then?

Shawn noted Estelle's shy posture and lack of eye-contact, unsure whether to dub it as a tad socially awkward or cute. It didn't bother him though. This girl intrigued him, partially because their gifts were opposites. "Great. Usually I'm out there all by myself, it's quite lonesome." Shawn said, then plucked the remaining crackers from the package and pushed them into his mouth all at once, chewed and swallowed. "You don't have to help if you don't want to, but like I said company is always great." he said, crumpling up the plastic wrapper.

"Haha, alright. I'm not that strong, so I can't really be much help..." she laughed lightly, making eye contact with Shawn for a quick second. No, she wasn't that strong at all, preferring to use her abilities as a mans of protection. Why did she have to be such a socially inelegant... thing? He probably thought she was some weird, gullible little child who had wandered too far away from home. At least, she would think of herself like that. She watched as he tore through the rest of the crackers, speculating her situation.

Shawn was rudely awoken by the horrendous wonk wonk wonk noise of his bedside alarm clock. He reached out, blinding smacking around for the snooze button. The clock ceased and Shawn rolled over, groaning into his pillow. Never ever would he be real morning person. The only reason he got up at six every morning was for other's benefit. If he slept in too late, he'd start letting people down. People who relied on him to do his share. He suddenly remembered Estelle was here, which changed his attitude toward the day ahead. Wait, does she even know what my gift is? he thought. Did I forget to tell her, or had she simply not been interested enough to ask? Shawn lay in bed a while longer trying to recall snippets of conversation from the previous day until his alarm set off again. After dressing and wolfing down a couple protein bars, Shawn headed downstairs to wake the girl, rapping on her door a couple times. He hoped she could forgive him for the time.

Estelle was a light sleeper. She would admit that. The lightest noises and feelings could jolt her awake; footsteps, voices, a fly, a rat, anything. Perhaps it was some kind of defense mechanism or whatever, but she had managed to sleep through Kennedy's midnight ramblings, wondering if she was still awake. Maybe it was just familiar to her. She had somehow gotten used to the fact that her dreams would be half-finished most of the time, even if they were only supposed to be 7 minutes long. Of course, the rapping on the doors was like the sirens of the oncoming apocalypse. At least for her.
Her eyes were the first ones to open up, staring at the relatively underwhelming ceiling, which was covered with a layer of ice. Oops. It would melt, eventually. She sighed, recollecting what had happened yesterday. Quiet, she slipped out of the bed and put on her coat, which had been discarded onto the dresser. Opening the door, she saw Shawn. A slight smile lit up her face, "Good morning," she greeted him, stepping out into the hallway.

"Morning. Catch," Shawn replied, his voice still a bit groggy. He tossed a white chocolate & macadamia protein bar at her, then asked "You ready to go? I know it's early, sorry if you were hoping to sleep in." The boy dug into trunk on the opposite side of the room, pulling out a pair of rubber boots. "You're about a size seven, aren't you?" Shawn asked, placing them in front of Estelle. "Not very classy, but better than wrecking your other shoes."

Estelle caught the bar with surprisingly quick reflexes, holding out her hand as if it was a catcher's mitt. "No, it's fine. I don't get a lot of sleep as it is," she chuckled and promptly opened up the bar, chewing it as she looked at the rubber boots, "Six and a half, but that's close enough." She slipped on the shoes, holding the bar in her mouth. She honestly didn't care if her well-worn sneakers had gotten dirty - they've been through much worse than just a trip through the outskirts - but common courtesy told her that she might as well put them on anyhow. Though they didn't fit perfectly, she had to feel a bit of appreciation. Shawn was... nice. Nice. Kind, charming, gentle, inviting. Not loud or boisterous or anything. Very good company.

Shawn returned to the trunk and grabbed a pair of thick work gloves, stuffed them into his rear pocket, and motioned for Estelle to follow him upstairs. He wasn't going to lie, he was pretty stoked Estelle agreed to come with him, but he didn't want to display that to her at risk of looking foolish, especially if she wasn't as into this adventure as he was.
After they had passed through the tunnels and reached the large main room, a figure could be spotted at the bottom of the exiting staircase. Upon further inspection, Shawn realized it was Sid and groaned inwardly. "I presume you'll be on your way now?" she asked Estelle, but it was Shawn answered for her. "Actually, she's going to help me in the woods this morning." he informed Sid, who raised an eyebrow in surprise. She seemed to be a bit taken aback. Shawn had a difficult time reading Sid's mood, or better yet her intention behind stopping them, but she had obviously been waiting for them. "Really? Well then, don't hurt yourself." she cautioned, her eyes scanning over Estelle's lack of muscle before giving Shawn a clap on the shoulder and walking off. The boy was left quite confused.

He lead her through the tunnels, and with each step more thoughts raced through her head. Things to distract her. When they reached the main room (still giving her a sense of how small she was) she only nodded to Sid at Shawn's comment. The woman still gave her the chills, reminding her of someone she met once. But she couldn't remember her very well. A visitor, probably. Oh well. She let Shawn lead her out of the sprawling cavern, the sun rising slowly over the horizon, painted pink. Quietly, she matched up with Shawn's pace, once again remembering how tall he was. His shadow could easily cover her entire body. Estelle, while usually staring straight ahead at the path before them, occasionally took a glance or two at him, wondering who would start the conversation. She would admit that, yes, she was pretty excited. But she would never say that out loud.

The warm dawn light of summer washed over the two, accompanied by the faintest of breezes. Shawn inhaled gratefully, taking in as much fresh oxygen as his lungs could hold. It was an incredible refreshment to taste that outside air after being cooped up in a cave all night, and the boy looked forward to it every day. He looked down to Estelle. "I try to stay out as much as possible. Too much stale cave air can make you crazy. " he mused with a smile, squinting against the sun. "We're not far off now, just need to cross the field. The woods are right on the other side," Shawn pointed, a small patch of green barely visible from their point. "And incase you were wondering, it isn't part of the city." he added.

"Alright," she smiled, looking ahead towards the speck of woods. Shawn was definitely right, the fresh air was much better than the stale, dusty stuff that inhabited the cave. She let him talk, sort of unsure how to contribute to a proper conversation, especially when she was so drowsy. But Estelle still enjoyed Shawn's company, even if the height difference was awkward enough to have to look up to make eye contact with him.
