Name: Estelle Bertrand
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Gift: Ice manipulation. She hates it. Her powers are very unstable, for whatever reason, and there is a perpetual ring of frost that surrounds her. Anything that goes in that ring is slowly covered in a thin layer of ice. Because her skin radiates warmth, she can't get frozen, though her hair is one exception. She has tried to control her powers on multiple occasions (with varying success) in order to actually go up to the city.
Personality: Like her own gift, Estelle is bitter and has a sort of contempt for anything she comes in contact with. She holds everything at arm's length - no closer, no farther. She tends to isolate herself purposefully, even if someone reaches out to her. Sort of apathetic. Tends to blame problems on things besides herself, but she knows when it's her fault... she's just afraid to admit it. If she gets attached to a certain someone, she'll subtly grow out of her shell. Subtly. On occasion, she'll be a bit less of an ice queen and attempt to open up to someone, usually if she's particularly desperate... or apathetic. Tends to crack under pressure.
Appearance: Slender, at about 5'5'', with a very lean build, almost frail and childlike, with a round face. She has long black hair that goes down to her waist, which is very fringey and unevenly cut, curly at the ends. It tends to get into her blue eyes, though she doesn't do too much about it. She has pale skin, probably from staying inside a shack or underground most of the time, but her cheeks and nose are constantly flushed from the cold around her.
Likes/Interests: Doesn't seem to have any real interests, though she does have a fondness for literature and the fine arts. Which is sort of hard to indulge in, since all the books she gets are frozen shut if she reads for too long. She also likes the warmth, since she is really cold most of the time, of course.
Dislikes: Company, other people, ICE ICE COLD SNOW, basically anything and everything.
History: Born in Calais, France on January 14th. Her parents were both regular humans, but many out of the immediate family were Alternates. They expected their only daughter to be a perfectly normal member of society, being sent to prestigious schools only for the very gifted. She excelled at those schools, but always seemed to feel a bit different around the other children. She wrapped herself in scarves and long-sleeved shirts in the heat of summer, something that her peers found incredibly strange. Though she had never been outright ridiculed, she had been isolated on occasion for her peculiar tendencies. Eventually, something got out of hand, and the school administration contacted her oblivious parents.
They were outraged at the prospect of their daughter being an Alternate. Estelle heard them talk about "sending her away," and "getting a cure," which scared the living daylights out of her. Thus, she packed away the few things she still wanted or needed and headed out, looking for a haven for others like her.
She found one in Wixham. Not the best place, but a safer one, she guessed.
